After more than 35 years in real estate, I’ve witnessed an incredible evolution in how homes are bought and sold. I remember when I started with ERA—Electronic Realty Associates—one of the first companies to introduce a fax machine into real estate. At the time, that was cutting-edge. There were no computers, no online searches, no instant communication. Everything was done by phone calls, paper and personal relationships.
Fast forward to today, and platforms like Zillow have transformed the consumer experience. Buyers can now search for homes instantly, track values, explore neighborhoods and feel more informed than ever before. Sellers can see market activity in real time. Information is no longer guarded—it’s shared.
Some in our industry resist that change. But after decades in this business, I’ve learned something very important: Change is not something to fear—it’s something to embrace.
Because while technology has streamlined the process, the fundamentals of real estate have not changed.
Location still matters.
Condition still matters.
Pricing strategy still matters.
Negotiation still matters.
And most importantly—experience still matters.
What platforms like Zillow have done is accelerate the connection between buyers and sellers. They’ve increased visibility, created urgency, and in many cases, helped homes sell faster. When demand moves faster than supply, the result is simple economics—prices rise. But here’s where true professionals make the difference. Technology can show you a home.
It cannot guide you through the emotional, financial, and strategic decisions that come with buying or selling one.
That’s where our role remains not just relevant—but essential.
As I sit and write this, I’m reminded how blessed I am. Through our marketing, our relationships, and our commitment to serving people at the highest level, we continue to help families move forward in their lives.
Today alone, we’re closing another waterfront home here in Stuart—working with both the buyer and seller, and once again, serving a repeat client who was referred to us.
That doesn’t come from technology. That comes from trust.
I am deeply grateful—for my incredible team, for our loyal clients, and for the many families and friends who continue to refer us.
The tools may change.
The platforms may evolve.
But relationships, trust, and service—that’s what will always define success in real estate. And I believe the best is still ahead.
